I am originally from upstate New York (Albany), born of Greek and Armenian descent, and have one older brother. Although I was baptized and raised in the Greek Orthodox faith, I withdrew from the Church during my teen and young adult years. During my college years I became very interested in computer programming and decided to start my own company developing computer software. Before I returned to finish my studies, I was able to complete and market my own computer game (titled Olympus). After completing my bachelor degree from the State University of New York in the field of Computer Science, I immediately moved to New York City (Astoria) for employment. I proceeded to work for several Wall Street firms, finding employment as a computer programmer/analyst in the investment banking industry.
It is during my time in NYC that I started to become more actively involved in community activities and organizations, particularly with several Greek cultural and Church organizations. Ironically, although religion had not been an important part of my life (at least since my youth), I began to gain more interest in broadening and developing my spiritual life. This led me closer to the Church where I began to regularly attend Bible studies, retreats, and various Church services. I eventually decided to accomplish two life goals at once: to complete my Graduate level studies, as well as learn more about my Orthodox faith. I enrolled at the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology (near Boston, MA) and completed my Masters degree in the field of Theology in May of 2000. My latest endeavor has been the establishment of my own company, Axios Technologies, a provider of web development, web hosting, and SOHO (Small Office Home Office) computer solutions.
